Lent The annual Lenten season is the fitting time to climb the Holy mountain of Easter. All are encouraged during Lent to participate in an ever more intense and faithful way in the Lenten liturgy and in penitential celebrations. All should approach the sacrament of penance during this season so that with purified heart they may participate in the paschal mysteries.
Ash Wednesday is a day of Fast and Abstinence. We have to prepare over Lent by penance for the renewal of the Baptismal Promises.
Parish Mission Begins on Monday morning 27th Feb. Every house should have received a copy of the programme. It will be a great preparation for the Eucharistic Congress. Please pray the prayer for the mission in the brochure you received or at least some other prayer. There are more copies of the programme for the parish mission available in the porches.
Eucharistic Congress Bell You will all have received a copy of the brochure for the Congress Bell. Please read it and the four Icons should help in understanding of the gift of Christ to us in the Eucharistic and the Congress.
During the Parish Misson personal appointments with Sr. Breege will not be possible, nor will it be possible to take personal phone calls or return them. Letters and other petitions will be accepted by Sr. Breege. A basket for prayer petitions will be made available for those who wish to use it.
Baptismal team meeting The next meeting will be on Tuesday 6th March at 8.15pm in the parochial house. Team on duty: Rose Spollen, Frances O'Hara, Moira Grogan. If you wish to have a baby christened during March please contact Fr. Mulvany to make arrangements.
Church Cleaning Volunteers are needed please!!! The teams who clean and take care of the church every week do a great service to us all. The high standards they maintain have been remarked by visitors. They are truly Gods housekeepers! If you can give an hour once a month please let us know. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks to all the parishioners and the Tubberclair GAA for helping to distribute the brochures for the parish mission and the Congress Bell.
Missalettes and Newsletters: Please help to leave the church easy to make ready for the next congregation by placing the mass leaflets at the end of your seat and bringing the newsletter home or put them back in the porches.

Questions People Ask: I am separated after a very unhappy marriage. Now I am in a second relationship in which I and my children have found great love. We go to Mass every Sunday and I deeply miss receiving Holy Communion. Somebody told me to make a spiritual communion. What is that? A. "O God, I thank you for all the love I have experienced in life. Where love is present, you are there. I thank you for your presence in my life. I believe in your presence in the Blessed Eucharist and I deeply miss being able to receive you there. However I know that you wish to come into my life in other ways. So I now make an act of spiritual communion and invite you into my life as the spiritual food of my life. Priase to you Lord Jesus Christ."
Learning about the Mass with Kath & Qumen The Liturgy of the Eucharist - We bring our gifts. During the part of the Mass we move from the ambo to the altar. We have heard the Word of God and now we come to share in the Bread of Life at the altar. The first part of the Liturgy of the Eucharist is about preparing the gifts that we bring to the altar. The most important gifts that we bring are the bread and wine. The bread is placed on something which looks like a plate. We call this a paten. The wine is in a glass jug. These gifts are placed on the altar. One of the first gifts that you will notice being prepared is the gift of money. You will see people moving through the church with a basket or a bag for the collection. Everyone is asked to put some money into the basket or bag. This money helps to pay for all the things that are done in the parish, including helping those who may not have enough for themselves.
